EADPH wishes to adopt a holistic public health approach to oral health in line with the current challenges for preventing non-communicable diseases and in line with the implementation of the WHO Oral Health Action Plan. To do so, Special Interest Groups (SIG) are a core part of EADPH, supporting EADPH members with discussions around oral health priorities, encouraging collaborations between and within countries, and sharing scientific evidence, guidelines and examples of good practice to drive improvements in oral health.

EADPH has thus defined seven themes that are in line with WHO Oral Health Action Plan and that are driving the definition and activities of the SIGs

  1. Health promotion and disease prevention
Health promotion and disease prevention: Focusing on Oral Cancer
SustainOral: sustainable community-based strategies to prevent oral disease
  2. Financial models, universal health coverage and oral health care systems
  3. Vulnerable populations
  4. Education, workforce, and training
  5. Digitalization and Innovation
  6. Translating research into policy
  7. Oral health outcomes, oral epidemiology, and health information systems

EADPH Special Interest Groups (SIGs) is the arena where current public health challenges are discussed and addressed. Actual EADPH SIGs are established for a defined period, and each SIG has a Chair and a Co-chair who are responsible for driving SIG progress towards the proposed outcome(s). SIGs meet at least twice a year. Once physically during EADPH annual meeting and at least once in the interim (physically or digitally).SIGs may produce outputs, such as toolkits, guidelines, position statements, policy documents, or scientific articles, state-of-the-art papers, and editorials. These outputs are expected to be published.

If you are interested in joining one of our SIGs, please contact the respective Chair/Co-chair.
